Abstract

Contigency Plan On Sailing As a Pattern and System In Handling Bad weather in KM. DHARMA KARTIKA III Transportation is a very important activity in today's society, especially Sailing and Shipping. In a country to meet its needs, it requires sea transport as an efficient, economical, and relatively inexpensive transportation. Many obstacles that occur when the ship sailed beratar port one to the port of destination. Common constraints consist of two factors: internal factors and external factors. Internal factors include the ability of the mualim in terms of navigating, inadequate navigation devices and the condition of the ship is not worthy of the sea, while the external factor is a weather factor that is not always friendly when making a voyage. The purpose of the contigency plan is to minimize the things that can damage the ship, cargo, safety and marine life. The importance of a preparation to deal with bad weather is the job of the entire crew. With good coordination between ship's crew is very helpful in minimizing the occurrence of things that are not eased in the face of bad weather. The method used by the crew in facing bad weather on the vessel is done according to the stages emphasized in safety in order to avoid damage of cargo and ship that is by unloading and bringing ship according to procedure in danger. Here the crew must be trained and skilled and know the steps taken before and when facing bad weather on board. The terms are already set in the conventions developed by IMO such as colission regulartion, solas and stcw1978. Key words : contigency plan, bad weather and safety first planning
