Abstract
Indonesia is a maritime country consisting of islands, so the ancestor of the Indonesian people is a sailor. According to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has made a rule that is Regulation 18 of SOLAS Chapter V which contains the installation of AIS in which ships are required to install the AIS transponder device. The author's purpose in compiling this scientific paper is to know and understand the role of AIS and other electronic navigation tools so that they can navigate safely, know how to operate AIS and other electronic navigation tools at KN. Karimun Jawa, obliging companies to the importance of AIS navigation tools in navigating at on the ship. Data collection methods used are the method of observation, interview methods, literature methods and qualitative methods. The results of this paper can be concluded that the company must provide navigation tools in accordance with predetermined and ship officers can use it as optimal as possible.
