Abstract
Fuel injection pump is one of the most important parts for the Diesel Motor. Fuel injection pump is a tool to press fuel into the fuel injector and inject fuel into the cylinder through the ventilation hole until a combustion process occurs inside the cylinder. Fuel injection pumps also experience common problems such as detonation, wear and tear on the plunger and interference with the fuel system. This paper is made with the aim to find out how to optimize the maintenance and repair of failure that occurs in fuel injection pumps. Other purpose is to determine the effect optimalization of fuel pumps. The research methods in this paper are descriptive methods. Data collection methods by conducting interviews with informants, observations, field research and library research. The effect resulting from optimal maintenance and repair of fuel injection pumps is that the working system of the main engine is more perfect and can extend the service life of the main engine. Therefore fuel pump maintenance is useful for smooth operation of the main engine. Operation and maintenance of the fuel pump it will create optimal engine performance. That’s because the fuel pump is one of the most important parts of the engine components in the main engine as a support for smooth operation ship. Keyword: Fuel Pump, Maintenence, Failure
