Abstract

Fire training is a training program that must be carried out on a ship in accordance with the rules contained in the book Safety Of Life At Sea (SOLAS) Chapter III Regulation 9.3.4, and every crew must have the knowledge and skills in using fire extinguishers in accordance with Rules for Certification of Training and Safeguard Standards for Seafarers (STCW) table A-VI / 1-2. The purpose of this research is to learn the knowledge and skills of ship children, in addition to this research also discusses the training system needed to improve the knowledge and skills of ship children in using using fire extinguishers on the ship. Pematang / P.1021. This research uses descriptive qualitative method, data collection is by interview, observation, documentation and literature study. The results showed, the main results of the implementation of fire drill on the ship is the knowledge of the fruit of the ship against the procedures for the use of fire extinguishers, reducing discipline and low awareness of the dangers that can be caused. Efforts that are applied to improve the knowledge and skills of ship awareness in pushing it with fire extinguishers on the ship is to carry out a regular fire drill at least once according to the rules relating to the book Safety of Life at Sea, safety films, familiarization of training tools modern tools and solas, must be optimized by the crew.done Keywords : Knowledge and skills, crews, fire extinguishers
