Abstract

The problem that the author has decided includes loading and unloading containers at mv.maria pia by pt.rimo transport expressindo at the port of tanjung Emas semarang. Problems raised have a purpose. The purpose of this observation is to determine the handling procedures for loading and unloading containers. By using a qualitative method and collecting observation, interview or library research data that the author collected can be concluded that unloading goods from the ship to the dock / barge / truck or loading goods from the dock / barge / truck into the ship until arranged in a ship hatch using ship crane or ground crane. The loading and unloading activities are carried out at the port or terminal of loading and unloading of goods. The purpose of container loading and unloading activities is very important, namely to encourage the achievement of national and evenly integrated logistics in both urban and rural areas. In order to achieve national logistical integration, it is expected that all logistics activities throughout Indonesia, both inter-regional and inter-island, can operate effectively and efficiently and become a unified, integrated unit nationally within the territory of the Indonesian state. From the observations it can be concluded that the procedure for handling container stevedoring and loading and unloading activities must be supported by a clear and qualified process. With a clear and uncomplicated process, it can control the loading and unloading work systems so that they take place effectively and efficiently so that the common goals can be realized.
