Abstract
The role in the use of work safety equipment is one of the efforts to prevent or reduce accidents during work. Therefore, it is expected that all crew members or crews who work on a ship must always use safety equipment when working on deck or in the engine room to avoid unwanted things from happening such as accidents. The purpose of this study is to determine the causes of work accidents on board. This research was conducted at PT. PELAYARAN SAKTI INTI MAKMUR. Sources of data obtained are primary data obtained directly from the research site by conducting observations and question and answer directly with officers and crew members, especially in the deck, and literature reviews and literature related to research. The data processing method used is descriptive method, the author tries to observe cases that often occur on the ship in connection with the lack of discipline of Ship Fruits, then make an important note about the causes and solutions that will be used to improve the discipline of Ship Fruits when doing work. The results obtained from this study indicate that the occurrence of occupational accidents on the ship is caused by a lack of discipline of the crew about the importance of using safety equipment when doing a job.
