Abstract

Safety culture is very important. IMO as the maritime organisation saw many accident on board of a ship. That is way IMO establish the Iternational Management regulation to apply SMS for all ships. Safety Management System application should be applied for all ships.This is away to prevent work accident on board of a ship. Other than making all crews safety guarantee, its also give benefit for the company. And when SMS had been setted and documented, it become a pillar for the company. The purpose of this study is to knoe the implementation and opimalisation of SMS on board of KM. Labobar. The data collecting methods were field research, interview and library research. The result of this study is all crews understand and know the procedure about SMS, but the implementation were not as procedure of SMS applied.
