Abstract
Skills, discipline, and dexterity are exist problems among seafarers. Based on these problems, sea accidents often occur and to avoid this need to recognize objects with each other, whether ships, flares, objects on land or danger signs at sea. For this reason, signal and communication are needed. The signals and communication must be completely controlled by the ship's officer and his crew. As for the purpose of this research is to know the process of ship communication activities with Semarang Pilot as well as the technical implementation and procedures for sending and receiving communication news. In this research the data sources used are primary data and secondary data. While the observation method that writer used was observation of the communication process and technical procedures to send and receive news between the ship and the Semarang Pilot. The results obtained after observations showed that first, the preparation of Semarang Pilot communication services in the form Planning Movement Ships At Tanjung Emas Port. Then the ship contacts the agent via facsimile and attaches files related to filling in the PPKB (Ship and Goods Service Request) Keywords : Skills, communication, safety
