Abstract

Ships as a carrier in sea transport in order to meet both economic factors and factors of safety must have three elements, namely: the human element, the element of the equipment, and regulatory elements. Man is as a main element, while the technical elements / equipment and regulations are just a support element. In carrying out routine tasks or duties of the officers according to their function (leaders) and subordinates are always coordinated so that the skipper's role is crucial in developing its work. For that reason in the discussion of this paper discusses the priority of man as the perpetrator. The number of cases of shipwreck like the incident the ship sinking, collision, fire, ran aground, people fall into the sea, damage to the wheel and pollution at sea or work accident while on duty aboard the indication that the quality of human resources is less than optimal in spite of factors - other factors also become causing types of accidents mentioned above. However, in terms of "human error" by clicking clearly identify that any element of lack of skills and lack of ability the crew to comply with the discipline of work rules or lack of knowledge about the importance of training the crew on board. In relation to these problems the author raises the issue of leadership influence officers in an effort to optimize the performance of the crew in KM. YK. 01 with the purpose; To increase knowledge of the crew of the importance of the role of leadership, awareness of the crew of the importance of the leadership role on the vessel, which brings crew members about the importance of the leadership role on the boat so that the performance of crew structured, for fellow crew members can be mutually respect each other about their position on the ship. The steps that can be taken by ship officers to cultivate and instill a sense of discipline and good cooperation on all subordinates can be done in several ways, including: (1) Held monthly meetings on board. By meetings every month for the entire ship's Men (crew) to discuss issues or give inputs about the discipline in carrying out their duties; (2) Directing the implementation of the tasks when necessary. In providing this guidance is to recite all the ship's Men (crew) in order to maintain discipline in performing their duties.
