Abstract

The Role of Standard Maritime Communication Phrases (SMCP) In Communication System Between Ships with Ships, Ships with Ports As Efforts to Improve Safety of Shipping in MT. Gas Dream At KSS LINE Ltd The increasing world economy today makes the shipping industry the main transportation in terms of import export. Therefore, each ship not only send goods or passengers between islands but between countries to transcontinental continents. So every crew is required to be able to speak international language to facilitate export and import jobs and reduce the risk of accidents that can be caused by lack of ability to communicate both between ships and with the port. Therefore, a seaman must understand Standard Marine Communication Phrases (SMCP) / sentences - raw sentences of marine communication. Based on the international conventions STCW 1978 (revised 1995) SMCP becomes a requirement for seafarers who are in charge of carrying out the 500GT navigation guard to communicate both internally and externally. With the creation of this paper is expected to always contribute to improving safety, especially in terms of ship communication. Using the research method directly within the specified object and with the data found that the rules of SMCP become the reference for seafarers in communicating internally and externally, SMCP is a concrete effort that can be done by seafarers in an effort to improve shipping safety.
