Abstract

Water weather information is indispensable in the field of shipping as consideration in the selection of safe and efficient sailing flows. The Maritime Climatology and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) has an important role in supporting the safety and safety of shipping. The purpose of this study is to know the role of the Maritime Meteorological station in supporting the safety and security of the cruise and the constraints faced by the BMKG station in forecasting and disseminating weather forecast information. Weather information needed for the cruise include: temperature, air pressure, wind, humidity, tides, currents and wave height. The method of data collection on this study is the observation method, interview method, document method and library study method. The result of this study is to know the equipment used by the Maritime Meteorological station in the observation of the weather elements such as the Hellman, Air evaporimeter Fan, Campbell Stokes, Barometer, Thermometer, and Authomatic Weather Station and the role of maritime BMKG in supporting the safety and security of the cruise by conducting several processes namely observation, analysis, forecasts and delivery of weather information. Keywords: Weather, Information, Role.
