Abstract

The Role of Badan Metorologi Klimatoligi Geofisika Tanjung Mas Semarang in Estimating and Informing Weather News on Ships to Support Sailing Safety BMKG has an important role in disseminating weather information to ships through several processes, namely observation, forecasting, and sending weather information. Weather information needed for shipping includes: rain intensity, wind direction and speed, high wave height, highest and highest waves, information and visibility of tropical storms. Measurement of weather elements in the sea usually uses weather buoys. When weather conditions are expected to deteriorate, the BMKG maritime authority will issue an early warning that will be sent to the sailing ship. Because the delivery of meteorological information can provide guidance on the selection of roads so that they can sail safely, comfortably, safely to their destination on time. In the process of processing data, the author makes observations, interviews, and reads from reference books to process data about the weather. So that it can explain the role of BMKG in disseminating weather information in an effort to improve the safety of shipping by making weather forecasts of wind, waves and currents for the next 7 days.
