Abstract

ABSTRACT Sailing navigation aids are facilities that are built or formed naturally outside the ship that function to assist the navigator in determining the position, course of the ship and notifying the danger or obstacles of shipping for the sake of sailing safety in the shipping lane. The shipping lane is a lane both natural and artificial waters in terms of depth, width, and other shipping barriers which are considered safe to navigate. The ship must always sail in safe shipping lanes so that disaster accidents such as collisions, aground and sinking can be avoided. The purpose of this paper is to find out the various types and functions of Sailing Navigation Aids and how the Navigation District Class III Cilacap in optimizing cruise navigation aids in order to improve cruise safety in the Navigation District Class III Cilacap. Data collection methods used are field research methods and documentation methods that use observation and interview techniques. The results of this paper are that there have been many activities carried out by the Navigation District Class III Cilacap to optimize the navigational aids on cruise safety. This is very important and very helpful for the safety of shipping as evidenced by the absence of a cruise accident in the Navigation District Class III area of Cilacap in the last 2 years.
