Abstract
Air pollution is one of the problem in the world. Because air pollution prevention is so important that it is set out in MARPOL 73/78 ANNEX VI that has been amended in the 1997 protocol on ANNEX VI on the prevention of air pollution from ships. In some countries have implemented air pollution prevention regulations from ships. On 1 January 2015 has been effective in enacting regulations on the Emision Control Area (ECA). Any vessel operating in the zone is subject to pollution control rules, including replacing the fuel consumption from HFO (Heavy Fuel Oil) to the LSMGO (Low Shulfur Marine Gas Oil). One of the causes of air pollution in addition to natural factors as well as the results of human actions such as machinery operations of ship and engine exhaust gas, the use of fuel with high content of Shulfur contained in HFO (Heavy Fuel Oil) fuel became one of the causes of pollution air. Rules of Substitution of low shulfur fuel type LSMGO (Low Shulfur Marine Gas Oil) is one of the efforts to prevent air pollution on board. From the observation and experience of marine vessel practice on air pollution prevention on ships is to changeover high sulfur fuel to low sulfur fuel. In addition to doing PMS (Plant Maintenance System) on the engine system associated with exhaust gas. Efforts to reduce and prevent air pollution in ships besides follow international rules as well for the sustainability of healthy ecosystems and environment.
