Abstract

The development of science and technology, an increase in the economic sector is heavily influenced by developments in the field of shipping, many companies that use marine transportation services in an attempt to meet the needs of the company. Fuel Oil purifier on board is one auxiliary machine that has a very important role to produce clean fuels. The usefulness of the fuel that is clean is to support the operation of the main engine to produce more complete combustion. The purpose of this study is to determine the cause of no operation of the membrane reducing valve thus causing the over flow on F.O Purifier and also know what factors are causing damage to the main seal ring. The method used is descriptive: to observe directly the cause of the damage around the seal ring and then look for the cause. Results obtained from this study indicate that there has been damage to the membrane reducing valve on the supply of fresh water high pressure so that water can not bet oversupply into the purifier for the opening of the bowl and the resulting oil discharged into the sludge tank through a gap that is not covered in the bowl body and play cylinder. Therefore, maintenance on a component in accordance with a manual air purifier is the right step to improve the performance of the purifier. Keywords : Overhoul, Cleaning, Repair.
