Abstract
The compressor is a mechanical device used to energize the gas / air fluid, so that gas / air can flow from one place to another continuously. The addition of this energy can occur due to mechanical movement, in other words the function of the compressor is to convert mechanical energy (work) into pressure energy (potential) and useless heat energy and start system is a service system for the parent motor is very vital on the ship that serves to turn the main engine and generator. The purpose of this paper is to understand every problem that occurs in the operation of the air system of walkers and how to anticipate it, understand the maintenance of air compressors to minimize the problem of damage on board. After checking the pilot valve gets stuck, the distributor (rotating shuttle) position changes, the starting valve is not working, a leak in the pedestrian air pipe that causes the delay of running the parent machine. After doing the repair process on the compressor. From these results the compressor can supply air pressure up to 28 bar to run the parent machine, so the performance of the parent machine remains stable.
