Abstract

Maintenance and Repair Centrifugal Pump Cooling Seawater in KN SAR Sadewa 231 owned Badan Nasional Pencarian dan Pertolongan Semarang Basically the working principle of the pump is to make low pressure on the suction, so that the fluid will be sucked in and remove it on the side of the pressure or output with higher pressure. It is done by using the driving element impeller, plunger or piston. The centrifugal pump is one of the non-positive displacement pump types, its working principle converts the kinetic energy (velocity) of fluid into potential energy (dynamic) through an impeller that rotates in the chassis into a dynamic pressure pump. By observing and completing the data on the ship KN SAR Sadewa 231. Then found the results of observation that in order to maintain the performance of the Centrifugal Pump, it is necessary to check and maintenant the Centrifugal Pump. Because Centrifugal Pump is very important in order to support the operation of Main Engine. Maintenance consist of shaft bearing maintenance by giving lubrication, leak check on packing box, etc. The results maintenance are firstly, it can be recognized the cause of the broken pump. Secondly it is to avoid the fault of the pump and how to solve it. It is also expected the operation of the engine will work normally with the routine maintenance.
