Abstract

Bow Thruster is a propulsion in formed of a propeller in the bow of a ship to deflect the ship during manouver. Maneuver is the ability of a ship to turn and rotate when the ship will berth or sail from the port. Installation of Bow Thruster can also enlarge the maneuverability of a ship that has a Bulbous Bow. In this case the author identification the problem that occured on when he was on sea project field. The effectiveness of Bow Thruster's performance and how to overcome those problem be came topics of problems in this paper. The author purpose is to find out the performance of Bow Thruster. Besides that, can know how maintenance Bow Thruster. In this case the author use the observation and obtain data on the CB. BESTLINK 88 on when he was on sea project field for 1 year. The result that the author knows what breakdown has happened to the Bow Thruster. How to overcome the breakdown depends on the maintenance. Maintenance is carried out according to the manual book.
