Abstract
Traffic congestion is a situation or state of stagnation or even cessation of traffic caused by the large number of vehicles exceeding road capacity. If traffic flow is approaching capacity, congestion starts. One of the traffic problems in land transportation which is quite difficult to face today is the low ability to provide road network infrastructure, while the level of vehicle flows is increasing. Such conditions result in traffic congestion on various roads. This study aims to determine the effect of traffic volume, parking characteristics and side obstacles partially and simultaneously on traffic congestion on the klaten bypass road section. The population in this study were klaten bypass road users with a sample of 100 respondents. The sampling technique used is nonpropability sampling with a type of sampling that is sampling insidential. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis and quantitative analysis, the data were analyzed using a linear regression analysis with the help of (Software) Statistical Package For Social Science (SSPS). The results of this study indicate that the variable traffic volume, parking characteristics, and side barriers have a partial effect and simultaneously on traffic congestion on the klaten bypass road section. The results of multiple linear regression analysis obtained the equation Y = 1.674 + 0.188X1 + 0.310X2 + 0.414X3 + µ. From the regression equation, it can be seen that the most dominant variable influencing traffic congestion is the variable barriers to the side with a regression coefficient of 0.414. With the R2 (R Square) test the results are 0.546 or 54.6%, which means that the traffic jams on the Klaten bypass road are affected by variable traffic volume, parking characteristics, and side barriers, which is 54.6% and other factors which affects traffic congestion on the klaten bypass road is 45.4%.
