Abstract
OILY WATER SEPARATOR (OWS) INSTALLATION SYSTEM AS SUPPORT OF SEA POLLUTION PREVENTION IN PT. JANATA MARINA INDAH Oily Water Separator (OWS) separates oil and water, is a equipment on board where the tool aims to reduce pollution and sea pollution, the system works to separate two elements that are not mutually inseparable separated from each other due to differences in mass (density), in this case the fluid in question is oil and water, where the specific gravity of the water is greater than the specific gravity of the oil so that when the separation process occurs the water will be at the bottom and the oil will be at the top. The design of this tool is carried out in several stages, which include planning, preparing, manufacturing, assembling, and adjusting prototypes. Designing components is carried out per component of the entire unit then assembled. The design of Oily Water Separator components consists of pump unit components, separating unit components, filters, and frames. Assembly of components is done so that it becomes a compact device and can be used in accordance with the desired design. Functional testing that aims to find out whether the design results can function with the expected design. In the Oily Water Separator (OWS) flight check function periodically, the disposal of waste water mixed with oil in gutters or bilge into the sea can reduce the marine pollution process because by maintaining mixed levels not exceeding 15 ppm of oil content determined by the MARPOL 1973/78 regulation.
