Abstract
ABSTRACT CARE AND OPERATION OF AIR COMPRESSORS FOR SUPPORTING PRESSURE AIR SUPPLY REQUIRED IN MV. MARIA PIA PT. PANURJWAN SEMARANG SHIPPING COMPANY Air Compressor is a machine or mechanical device that serves to increase pressure or compress gas or air fluid. Compressors usually use electric motors or diesel engines as their driving force. The author formulates problems about air compressor, The how to operate, maintenance, compressor. This paper aims to find out how to handle air compressors in MV. Maria Pia. In this paper use several research methods, namely: interview method, observation, documentation. These data were obtained when carrying out terrestrial practices at the Nusantara Panurjwan Shipping Company in Semarang and in MV. Maria Pia. The problem are often discussed on damage air compressor are the dirty valves, worn piston rings, wear drive rods, lubricating oil runs out, loud engine noise, many parts of the system are worn or damaged. After the author made an observation in the MV. Maria Pia, the author can conclude that there are several ways to maintenance air compressors. They are paying attention to lubrication and cooling systems. It is recommended that to maintenance and keep air compressors be carried out according to the schedule that made by the engineer. He is responsible to the compressor so that the compressor can work optimally. Keywords: Compressor, Operation, Maintenance.
