Abstract
The intercooler functions to cool the air before the air enters the cylinder. If the intercooler does not function properly there will be a noticeable decrease in power on the main engine because the air temperature will rise and the air mass entering the cylinder will decrease. The writing or observation of this paper was taken by the author in 30005 DJBC Tanjung Balai Karimun. This is interesting for the writer to observe more deeply about the intercooler problem. The purpose of writing this paper is to find out the lack of rinse air supply into the cylinder, knowing why there is a power drop in the main engine and how the intercooler is maintained. The method used when collecting data on writing this paper is the observation method, interview method and library method. After maintenance and repairs to the intercooler, the intercooler performance is optimal and can be seen from the exhaust gas temperature which was originally 380 ⁰C to 330 ⁰C. It can be concluded that maintenance on the intercooler can be done daily, 3 months, 6 months and yearly so that the intercooler can work optimally. Keywords: Intercooler, Temperature, Maintenance.
