Abstract
The main bearing on the auxiliary machinery is one of the aspect system that has important role in the auxiliary engine. The function is to support engine power, so that the movement of the bearing and crankshaft can run safely, smoothly, and long life. The purpose of this paper is to find out the cause of damage to the main bearing and how to maintain for the main bearing of the auxiliary engine. This observation was carried out on the KM. Dharma Kencana company owned by PT. Dharma Lautan Utama for 4 months. The method used in this paper is descriptive. Procedure for collecting data through observation techniques, interviews, and literature. Source of data obtained directly from KM. Dharma Kencana with direct observation through checking and measurement, manual books and literature related to the title of this paper. Every moving device always experiences this damage due to two objects rubbing against each other. However, this can be anticipated by understanding how to maintain the main bearing on the auxiliary engine and maintaining the operation of the crankshaft properly. In order for the main bearing and crankshaft to work properly and according to what we want, it should be carried out maintenance of the main bearing and crankshaft. These maintenances are carried out to minimize the occurrence of problems that will arise when the main bearing and crankshaft are operating. Keywords: Main Bearing, Crank Shaft, Maintenance.
