Abstract

The cause of wear on the bearingMain (main bearing) of the parent machine On board the KM. DHARMA KENCANA The main bearing system of the parent machine is one aspect of the system that has an important role when the host machine operates and when not operating to support the engine power, so that the movement of the shaft and crankshaft can run safely, smooth and long life. The purpose of this study is to determine the cause of wear and tear on the main bearings of the parent machine.This research was conducted aboard KM. DHARMA KENCANA company owned by PT. DHARMA LAUTAN UTAMA for one months. The research method used in this research is descriptive method. Data collection procedures through observation techniques, interviews, and literature. Source of data obtained directly from the research site by direct observation through measurement, manual book and literature related to the title of this paper. The results obtained from this study show that the work of oil film, the ratio of shaft power (crankshaft) to the load and working hours of an unsuitable bearing, resulting in wear on the bearing.
