Abstract

THE OPTIMAL OF THE COOLER MAINTENANCE IN THE MAIN ENGINE TO AVOID THE DAMAGE ON MV. MSC GIANNA Cooling system is a system that functions to maintain the engine so that the engine temperature is in ideal conditions. The cooling system is necessary and important. Based on the heat balance on the engine, the cooling function on the main engine becomes important. So, to make it easier to use the cooling system there need to be an improvement plan to follow the procedures of the cooling system guidance manual. The purpose of writing this paper is to find out the interference that often occurs in the Cooler. Maintenance and repair of the Cooler and the failure of planned maintenance on the cooler. So that problems can be identified and diagnosed so that a Cooler can be handled. The method used by the author in compiling this paper uses primary data and secondary data. Primary data obtained by the author through direct observation on the Cooler in the MV. MSC GIANNA and through a particular ship, manual book, maintenance management books and company data. Based on data obtained by the author. That the cooling system on the ship has two types, namely open and closed cooling system. Cooling system if lack of maintenance can result in over heat engine. It is recommended to always maintain the cooling system and supporting devices. As well as considering the importance of components, it should often be checked, especially at temperature and water pressure. Keywords: Cooling System, Main Engine, Maintenance.
