Abstract

TREATMENT OF SEA WATER COOLING PUMP SYSTEM TO OPTIMIZE MAIN MACHINE PERFORMANCE PT. JANATA MARINA INDAH SEMARANG Centrifugal pump as one type of pump that is often found in the industry works with the principle of impeller rotation as a fluid transfer element which is driven by an initial drive. The liquid inside will rotate due to the impulse of the blades and cause a centrifugal force which causes the liquid to flow from the center of the impeller and out through the duct between the blades and leave the impeller at high speed. This high speed liquid is passed through a channel that has an enlarged cross section (diffuser) so that a change in head (high press) speed becomes a pressure head. After the liquid is thrown by the impeller, the space between the blades becomes vacuum, causing the liquid to be sucked in so that the suction process occurs. The main driving machine is also called the parent engine or maritime language. The main engine of this object that drives a ship in its operation takes cargo from port to port to Port, both solid, liquid, gas and human goods. This paper is based on observations during land practice activities at PT. Janata Marina Indah which aims to provide information about the factors that cause less optimal use of water pumps. In addition, the author also expects in this writing to provide information about efforts to make the use of the pump to the maximum, and how to maintain the pump.
