Abstract

Operation and Maintenance Inert Gas System to Maintain Safety Discharge or Loading at Motor Tanker Serang Jaya On tanker DWT 20,000 tons and above must be fitted with Inert Gas System installation is useful to prevent fire or explosion during loading or unloading of oil activity. Appropriate rules contained in SOLAS reg Amandement 1-2 / 4.5.5 International Maritime Organization (IMO) that oxygen levels in the cavity of the tank should not be more than 5-8% in the volume of the tank and should be at positive pressure. On the Inert Gas System, the need to be in operation by correctly and require good care tehadap major components and auxiliary components. Care and the proper operation of the procedures in the sytem then Inert Gas oil loading and unloading process will run smoothly and safely, in addition to providing an understanding of the importance of safety in people who participated in the process of loading and unloading. So understanding it makes the man is aware of the use of safety equipment, equipment maintenance work, to understand the patterns of employment and working conditions.
