Abstract

The main bearing system on the main engine is one aspect of the system that has an important role when the operating machine and when not operating to sustain (power) engine power, so that the movement of the shaft and crankshaft can run safely, smooth and long life. The purpose of this study is to determine the cause of wear and tear on the main pads of the parent machine. Based on the background that has been put forward, then the problem in this research can be identified to be a focus of the problem in the case of one by one very closely related to each other so that it can be taken the formulation of the problem as follows. Any moving equipment is always damaged. This is because the two objects are mutually contacting or rubbing. The main problem experienced so far is how to reduce or prevent energy losses due to friction. Friction is usually defined as the opposing force that occurs when two surfaces move relative to one another. This friction can cause damage or loss of particles from a material called wear and tear. Wear occurs when there are two objects pressing each other and rubbing together. Greater wear occurs in softer materials. Factors that affect wear and tear are pressure velocity, surface roughness and material hardness. Friction that occurs will cause heat and also cause wear and tear. Keywords: Main bearing bearings, oil film, wear and tear
