Abstract

THE BATTERY WORKING SYSTEM AND ITS MAINTENANCE ON KM. BAHTERA PANDANARAN 02. PT PUALAM EMAS SEJAHTERA Battery is an electrical cell in which the highly efficiency reversible process of chemical electronic takes place. Reversible chemical electronic is a process which changes chemical into electric power in a battery. This process works vise versa . In this paper, the writer aims to know tree aspects, they are the battery working system, the battery maintenance , the battery charging system and it’s application in series and parallel construction. The maintenance of battery in a ship is done by shutting down the electrical components in order to prevent the electric charge inside the battery from being reduced . The battery thermal checking is needed since if there’s rust or loose on its components , the electric current won’t be perfect. The last part to be checked is the density. It’s measured by hydrometer to find out wether it is reduced or not . If the density is reduced then the battery needs to be charged. Knowing the process of the battery working system and its periodic maintenance in a ship, the writer expects that this knowledge can minimize the damage on the battery as well as to make the battery stronger and long lasting Key note: working system, source of electric power , maintenance .
