Abstract
With the development of science and technology, an increase in the economic sector is heavily influenced by developments in the field of shipping, many companies are using marine transportation services in the business to meet the needs of the company. The ship is sea transportation, one of which uses a diesel engine as the main propulsion. This is because the diesel engine is easy to maintain and simple to operate. Given this, the diesel engine needs special attention in order to always be ready to use and works well to support the activities on board. One of the factors supporting the smooth operation of the ship is the main engine maintenance. Its relation to the matters important we know and understand about the maintenance of piston aircraft engines to reduce the risk of damage to the ship when in operation, while its purpose is: 1. Knowing the purpose of the overhoul. 2. Knowing the parts - parts of which need to be cleaned and measured. 3. Recognize the importance overhoul of the machine. 4. Knowing trouble and how to fix it.
