Abstract

Fresh water cooling system is one of support of the main propulsion system of a ship, where the function of the system is nothing but to cool the main engine so that the engine can run normally. In this paper, the object of writing using a closed cooling system. The following working principle Fresh water cooling system: 1 When the machine is turned on, the fresh water flows from the cooling expantion tank with fresh water using centrifugal pumps to the main engine. 2 If the cooling fresh water temperature has not reached 80 ° C the thermostat valve to the cooler remains closed, while the valve directly to the main engine remains open. 3 If the cooling fresh water temperature reaches 80 ° C the thermostat valve leading to the open cooler cooled by sea water, then drained to the main engine. 4 sea water pumps run towards the cooler to cool the fresh water.
