Abstract

Battery is an electrical cell in which the chemical reversible process of (reversible) electrocoution occurs with high efficiency. Wich in thesense of electrochemical reversible is inside the battery that can take the processof converting chemical into electric power and vice versa from electric power to chemical. In this paper, the author aims to know, that is: how the battery works, how the battery care system, how the battery charging system, and how the system applies the battery in series and parallel. The data collection method used in this paper is the battery maintenance on KM. BAHTERA PANDANARAN 2. Namely by data collection and observasing. Data collection can be obtained from interviews aboard the ship and from the office. In the observasing method is done directly on the object on the ship. Observations carried out during the process of generating the engine generator. On the turning process, the battery as its main source. The conclusion of this writing is the battery is a source of electricity that produces voltage by means of work that converts chemical energy into electrical energy and has a maintenance system for long-lasting battery. The battery has three methods of charging and applying in series and parallel. In this case the battery also always be controlled battery height and checked the terminal of its battery, because it affects the battery performance system Keywords : How to work, power source, maintenance
