Abstract

Technological developments air starting systems today main engine of marine was applicatied of pressurized air technology that is by pressing the piston through the air valve in order to start rotate machines and can rotate independently. Pressure for of air bottle in the range of 28-30 bar and can be used for six times to start the engine, filling the air bottles using air compressor that can be set manually or automatically as needed, for other uses pressurized air will be in the reduction in accordance with the reduction station as the required pressure. The effects of disturbance on the operation of air starting systems can cause the machine will not be turned on, especially on the starting air valve was frequently breakdown of the valve due to impurities of the ash. Regulary maintenance (PMS) should be routinely performed in accordance with the manual book that is recommended or if there is any damage of air starting ststem and the components. To continuity operation of ship the availability of spare parts must be kept always ready for use, the demand for spare parts at least 6 months previously had been sent to give the company a chance to get the needed item. Disturbances in the air starting due to a lack of maintenance is done regularly, based on the results of the implementation of regular maintenance (PMS) on air starting systems can extend the life of air starting systems and minimize damage to the components in the system, such as on the air starting valve that there is damage often or on the bottle air (main air receiver) to be in the drain once every 24 hours to remove water and other impurities.
